Washougal is a city in Clark County with a population of about 14,000 people. It has been in existence since 1908. Mount Pleasant Grange Hall, located in Washougal, is the oldest continuously used grange hall in Washington.

The city is located on the Washington side of the Columbia River. The route traveling into Washougal is picturesque, and travellers are treated to views of Mount Hood and the Cascade Mountains as they make their way into the city.

Washougal is often referred to as the “crossroads to discovery.” At one point, explorers from the 1700s traveled to this area and sailed up the Columbia River. They came as far as present day Washougal and landed near Reed Island. Washougal had many other famous explorers visit its location, such as Lewis and Clark and David Thompson.

Washougal itself is approximately 6.3 square miles. Additionally, its river, called the Washougal River, is one of the premier Salmon and Steelhead rivers in the state of Washington. Washougal also is home to many recreational and public parks.
